Early Birds' staff

The Early Birds Foundation is populated by some thirty aviation enthusiasts. These are volunteers from all ranks of society, 'birds' of different feathers and various ages. Some are technicians with an aviation background, others are pilots, but several are 'normal' people with a passion for historic aeroplanes, willing to assist in maintaining the EB-fleet. (re-)Construction of aircraft is the main activity, definitely the most time-consuming and requiring certain skills. A number of staff members holds these skills and expertise and is prepared to share them with the younger generation. That is a prerequisite for future succes. It goes without saying that the staff participates in flying as a passenger to fly-ins in Holland and abroad as well as on local flights.
Traditional handcraft
The art of traditional aircraft builder is in danger of becoming extinct in The Netherlands. Only a few still know how to build wooden wings as our forefathers did, even less are proficient in fabric covering using linen or a modern equivalent. Those people are very scarce.
This too is a field of responsibility for Early Birds as nursing old aeroplanes and traditional handcraft go hand in hand.
